Dom Glynn & His Sunday Best new single ‘Get Back In My Bed’
Valentines’ Day, 14th Fab.
‘What do you get when you have an Englishman from Birmingham, UK, playing the sort of vintage two-steppin' tunes that Country's founding fathers would be proud of? The unique and intriguing sound of Dom Glynn & His Sunday Best.’ Holler.
‘Great songs and fantastic instrumental duelling between virtuoso finger-picking guitar and fiddle.’ Americana UK
‘Get Back In Your Bed’ is the latest Valentine’s Day single from North London’s finest Honky-Tonk ensemble Dom Glynn & His Sunday Best, released on February 14th with a single release show at London’s Green Note the following day.
Described as ‘British Honky-Tonk’ and ‘Bluegrass adjacent’, the band’s vintage sound and authentic storytelling are a welcome addition to the Americana Renaissance on this side of the pond. Birmingham singer-songwriter and fingerpicker extraordinaire Dom Glynn is joined by the thrilling fiddle virtuoso Dr. Duncan Menzies (Copper Viper), the infectiously joyful drumming of Carmen Ruiz Vicente and the airtight bass-playing and delightful harmonies of Jack Trouble. Together they make a sound that excites and inspires; music that makes the people drink and dance.
After their formation in 2023 Dom Glynn and His Sunday Best hit the festival circuit immediately, featuring at Ramblin’ Roots, Maverick and Black Deer, and can regularly be found live at monthly residencies at The Dukes of Highgate, Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues Bar, Sir Richard Steele and Spiritual Bar in London. The band recently debuted at the AMA UK’s Americana Week, with CEO Ian Thomas picking them out as a favourite, and have already been confirmed for Red Rooster and Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival this summer.
‘Get Back In My Bed’ is their tongue-in-cheek take on a love song: ‘‘If lovin’ you ain’t right, I want to be wrong’. The band is in full swing here, showing off their tight-knit harmonies, well-crafted arrangements and witty lyricism. Their vintage Honky-Tonk sound sits well within the tradition of American Roots music without tipping over into a Country formula, retaining a British authenticity, up-tempo Bluegrass virtuosity and wry lyricism that John Prine himself would be proud of.
The single artwork, a nod to the band’s Western influence, is hand-painted by the song’s muse Olivia Wolfe, the designer-in-chief of all their artwork. How much more romance could you ask for?
'Get Back In My Bed is' a song I wrote as a joke when my girlfriend requested I write her a 'dirty song'. She loved it, her friends loved it, and when we started playing it live it became an instant favourite and we now finish every show with it. I'm not looking forward to my future father-in-law hearing it, but I can't keep this love song from the world. It is simply a joyful love song about wanting someone.’
Currently in the process of recording their debut album, Dom Glynn and His Sunday Best record live straight to tape in an analogue studio with vintage microphones from the 1940s. The band have released four singles so far: ‘Time Would Slow Down’, ‘Singing to Survive’, ‘Do It All Again’ and ‘Jimmy’s Queen’. Named by Holler as one of the best new Country & Americana artists to watch for 2025 and hot off the back of a debut showcase at the AMA UK Americana Week, 2025 is looking like a promising year for London’s finest Honky-Tonkers.
