UK Americana rising starlet and award-winning songwriter Katie Nicholas returns with another beautiful cross-picked ballad ‘In Your Shadow’, stirring emotions with her iconic soundscape of soaring strings and poetic refrains. A song for those who’ve fallen in the shadow… “please don’t call me yours, if you can’t call me at all”. ‘In Your Shadow’ is the second single released ahead of her self-produced EP "Chemistry" which explores her earliest music, reworked 10 years on.

Already well-established on the UK Americana scene, Katie Nicholas steps into a new era with her latest work, showcasing her as a distinctive folk artist and skilful guitarist and seamlessly bending any genre to best suit her message.

Born in Liverpool, her musical journey began after leaving her hometown at 18 to become an apprentice designer in London. Restless with her time and dreams, she independently released her first album, Dizzy, winning awards and chart placements for her well-loved track ‘Chemistry’ and capturing the attention of labels, festivals and fans. Katie’s visual skills meant the creation of her unique music videos alongside her country cross-picking and quick-witted lyricism quickly began to turn heads.

Showcased by Bob Harris as part of his ‘Under The Apple Tree’ event in Nashville, performing at festivals including C2C Showcase, Buckle & Boots and BBC Introducing Highest Point, Katie sold out her headline show at the Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room, performing her songs with a string quartet.

This week, Katie releases the second song from her highly anticipated EP, which is self-produced and recorded between The Grand Studio and Sloeflower Studio and features an all-star lineup of award-winning artists.
