'Stay' is the new single from alt-country rockers Steady Habits, due April 4th. Their first release since 2023, 'Stay', showcases the band's well-crafted fusion of contemporary country and 90s alt-rock. Since their formation in 2019, Steady Habits have been gaining a reputation as one of the finest live-acts across the independent music scene, joining the lineup for Truck Festival last summer, hailed by Holler as ‘Best of UK Country & Americana 2024’ and recently showcasing at the 2025 Americana Music Week in London.
Their first offering, 'Stay', is a paranoid love song. Capturing the narrator's doting fascination with someone they spent the night with, the track offers a raw mix of internalised feelings and unfiltered thoughts. It's a candid exploration of vulnerability and longing, set to a backdrop of overdriven guitars and atmospheric jangle that lend a 90s alt-rock feel.
"'Stay' is a song that feels deeply nostalgic to me. It draws on some dating experience in my late adolescence, while also capturing the blend of sounds that take me back to being a kid in the late 90s and early 00s, listening to artists like Alanis Morrisette and Weezer. There's a certain energy and emotional rawness in the lyrics and the music that feels like a reflection of that time when everything felt intense and all-consuming." - Sean Duggan
Fronted by New-England native Sean Duggan, Steady Habits have performed across the UK & internationally, supporting artists such as The Hanging Stars, Our Man in the Field, Morganway & Demi Marriner and at festivals including Black Deer, Truck Festival, and the Long Road, where they are also on the bill for 2025.
Having recently completed their first album, engineered by Chris Barker (Premium Leisure) and co-produced by James Wyatt (Sloe Flower Studios), Sean and the band are poised to make their mark on the independent music scene this year.
